NGPA Council Meeting
16 July 2006
Meeting Minutes
The July meeting of the Parents Association Council was held 16 July 2006 in
Hoag Student Center. The meeting was called to order by President Faith Wheeler.
Members in attendance were:

- Pres. Wheeler handed out copies of the Corps Calendar that goes through
December 2006.
- April and June minutes were presented and accepted.
- Nancy Long was introduced as new Council member.
- Wanda Henry spoke about Sorority Bid Day in January 2007.
- Tim Cornielson is working on the pedestal for the bronze eagle in the
MLC.
- Treasurer’s report presented:
- Bank statement shows balance of $13,490.37.
- Monies yet to be given to Financial Aid for dorm deposit loan
program.
- Money has been given for NGPA funding of Alcohol and Drug Awareness
Program.
- New Business:
- Fall schedule:
Frog Week runs from 13 – 20 August.
Freshman move into rooms 20 August.
Classes start 23 August.
- PA will again be supplying water for the Frog graduation 20 Aug. on
the drill field as well as in the dorms for resident women. Styrofoam
coolers are being purchased for water left in the dorms.
- Uniform loans to students have been repaid by all but one student,
who was deployed to Iraq and wounded. Motion was made to forgive this
loan and passed.
- Room deposit loans were approved for 2 students, 1 cadet and 1
resident woman. Two additional loans were approved via Internet. Loans
are to be refunded to the PA when the student leaves school, not repaid
directly by the students.
- New projects being considered:
- Starting a clothing/supply bank, which might consist of
uniforms, formal clothes, computers etc.
- Hiring a student to keep the website current.
- Establish a career network resource for internships and jobs
after graduation. “Career Services” at NGCSU has a placement service
but needs leads. Possibility of partnering with Alumni Assn. was
discussed.
- Sponsor a career etiquette dinner and interview etiquette forum.
School has had problem obtaining funding for the speaker/instructor.
- PA will have around 125-150 new members after Intro IV and Frog
Week.
- Next Council meeting set for 20 Aug. after Frog graduation in the MLC.
Meeting adjourned to work Intro III.
