NGPA Completed & On-going Projects
- Funds for loans through financial aid office to help any student
temporarily lacking funds for a text book(s).
- Funds for loans through financial aid office to assist any FROG (Cadet)
lacking funds for uniforms-currently supplying funds to assist 6 Cadets with
their initial uniform purchase.
- Buy food & drinks for the Female Resident Student who are participating
in Sorority Bid Day Rush. Parents also volunteer our services for the day to
serve the food & drinks.
- Supply free complimentary ice cold bottled water for all the major
events (FROG graduation/Crown Mountain Run; Parent/Alumni Weekend; Military
Pass & Reviews, etc.) on campus involving the parents – also have parent
volunteers at a Hospitality Tent to answer questions for parents during
these events.
- Publish a Parent's Guide which gives tips from “experienced parents”.
Serve as a resource for parents seeking advice or encouragement
- Coordinate with Campus Police to provide a parking pass to all parent
members of the NGPA.
- Publish a parent’s informational website @
www.ngpa.net.
- Support a volunteer group of parents who donate their time & talent for
sewing of Corp patches – our very own “Betsy Ross Brigade”. BRB has
currently to date saved the Corp of Cadets students & their parents over
$16,000.00 in alteration/dry cleaner bills since starting this service in
January 2003.
- Provided funds to NGCSU Chorus
- Provided funds along with the Alumni Association to refurbish
University’s original retreat cannon.
- Provided funds for the purchase of new picnic tables for most of the
dorms on campus.
- Provided funds to purchase new sabers for Senior Corps of Cadets.
- Provided funds for new outdoor furniture & custom patio umbrellas with
the Corps of Cadet emblem for cadets for the Military Leadership Center
- Provided funds for purchase of household items for the Women’s Dorms
- Provided coolers for the cadets use
- Provided large screen TVs & DVD players for 3 common rooms in the dorms.
- Funds for loan through financial aid office to assist 2 Cadets & 2
Female Resident Students with their room deposits fee.
- Supplied funds to assist in acquiring a web-based Alcohol Awareness
Program for education through Student Affairs of all new Freshman & current
students on the perils of alcohol use among college students.
- 2006-2007 Project - Establishing a Parent Assisted Career Network –
parents work with their employers to help set up interships for NGCSU
students in their companies and places of employment. Any parent wishing to
join the network-please contact

- 2006-2007 Project - Establishing a school supply & clothing bank for
needy students. Parents & students who no longer need their uniforms,
calculators, school supplies, clothing, used formal dresses (she “can’t wear
it but one time”), etc. Please contact faithwheeler@bellsouth.net to donate
any item which can be recycled by a needy student.
- 2005-2006 Project & planned 2006-2007 Project - Provided Home Baked
Goodies for the Corps of Cadets to sell in their Portable Canteen during
Gold Rush Days to raise money to off-set some of the expenses of the
Military Ball & reduce ticket price.
- Participate in every INTRO to recruit new parent members & to answer any
questions of parents of new in-coming Freshmen.
- Participate in a parent’s session on IN-PROCESSING day for the new FROGs
each year.
- Participate in the University’s OPEN HOUSE events.
- Support the Family Readiness Group (FRG) of NGCSU during the deployment
of NGCSU cadets to Iraqi Freedom & assisting the FRG in acquiring items for
“Welcome Home” packages for the returning members of Georgia Army National
Guard’s 48th Brigade Combat Team. NGPA is buying the yearbooks for the
Cadets for the year they missed paying their student fees that would cover
the yearbook from their previous school year.
- Parent Council Members serve as Good Will Ambassadors for NGCSU as well
as actively recruit future students for the Greatest College in the USA!
