2007 Parents Parking Permits & Parking Rules

Dear Parents,

Last year when the Parents Association mailed the parents’ new parking passes, a large number returned to us undeliverable or unable to be forwarded.  In addition, we have discovered that for various reasons, some students did not return for the school year which made the mailing of the new parking pass unnecessary.  Some parents were kind enough to notify us, while others just threw the pass away unused.

This year, in the interest of saving postage expenses & prevention of wasting supplies & postage fees, we ask that you submit a request for parking pass renewal online at our website.  Also, please take a moment to review the new parking rules for this year.  Since parking is at a premium this year due to the loss of several hundred spaces during the construction phase of the Rec/Deck & Library, Public Safety has been forced to tighten the rules on paring for all students, staff & visitors to the University.  Please assist us in honoring their request during this time of growth.  In addition to the loss of the precious parking, enrollment is at an all time high & campus security is at the forefront of all our attention due to the recent tragic events on other school campuses across our nation.  Therefore, unauthorized or unidentifiable vehicles will be ticketed, booted or towed at the owner’s expense.

The new parking rules are as follows:

1.      Parking spaces marked Faculty and Staff is open for parking after 5 pm (1700) until 7am (0700) Monday through Friday and all day on the weekends (this applies to students, parents, and visitors).

2.      When arriving on campus during school hours, Monday through Friday 7 am (0700) Monday through 5 pm (1700), please display your parking permit as listed on your permit for public safety officers to see clearly.

3.      If you do not have your permit with you at anytime you arrive on campus, you will need to stop & get a temporary visitor’s pass which allows you to park on campus.

4.      Your parent’s permit allows you more parking than a visitor’s pass, since you may park in student parking locations & visitor passes advise parking in visitor spaces only, which are very limited.  But please remembers to honor the times listed above for parking Monday-Friday 7:00 am till 5:00 pm.

5.      If you do not have a NGPA permit or a visitor’s pass when you park on campus at the times listed above, you will receive a ticket and/or get a boot placed on your car.  This is a huge safety issue, especially since the Virginia Tech incident, public safety officers are working very hard to monitor any “strange” or unidentified vehicles that appear on campus.

ZONE RED -FACULTY AND STAFF

There are 23 designated areas in this zone. Parking is reserved for Faculty and Staff Monday through Friday from 7:00am to 5:00pm on a year around basis. NOTE: These spaces are identified by red pavement markings (rectangular in shape with white lettering which reads RESERVED).

Please visit the Public Safety’s homepage on the school’s website if you are in question of any other parking rules or to view the safety statistics.

To renew your parking pass, please CLICK HERE to submit the current renewal form.
